PowerShell management Library for Hyper-V

I just bought a new laptop so I can setup Hyper-V and start to setup virtual machines so I can learn more PowerShell.  I am just about finished with the boot, "PowerShell and WMI" by Siddaway.  In there he recommends downloading the PowerShell Management Library from CodePlex.  I see there are currently 178 cmdlet's in the Hyper-V module.  I am wondering if the Management Library is a thing of day's gone by? Is this something I should put on my laptop, or is it simply not needed now with the new Hyper-V module on Window 8.1 Pro?
